Trever's August
Special
|
|
Every
month we set Trever free in our beer cooler to pick out a
beer special for the month.
If you
remember last month, we accidentally locked him in the cooler
overnight and it seems he was still a bit upset. When we let
him in there this month... he peed on all the SLO Blueberry
Ale!*
Guess
what's on sale!
SLO Blueberry
Ale $5.99 a 6-pack!**
That's almost $3 off
the normal price!
*For all
you sue-happy people out there - There's really no pee on
the beer, it's just a friggin' joke! Nice and fresh too! Get
it while it's cheap!
**Price does not include shipping.
Can not be combined with other discounts.

hops for a unique hoppy flavor!

Lost Coast Brewing Co. - A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale -

Extra
Pale Ale - SLO Brewing Co.
|
|
The SLO Brewing Company's
main brewery is located in Paso Robles, about 30 minutes north of
San Luis Obispo, the home of the original brewpub (still alive).
See last month's newsletter for more exciting information about
SLO Brewing Company.
A new brewmaster, Matthew Brynildson,
has taken over the brewing reigns and even tweaked a few of the
original SLO recipes since his arrival in February. Mat, the former
brewer at Goose Island Brewing Co. in Chicago, brings yet another
awesome brewer to California, which is fast becoming known as the
"Microbrew State" of North America!
SLO Extra Pale Ale was
originally named "Brickhouse Pale Ale" and is one of the beers that
was recently tweaked a bit, bringing it ever closer to perfection.
It is a light bodied ale brewed with pale malted barley, Munich
malts, and several different hops to give it more depth. The array
of aromatic hops produces an easy drinking beer with a clean and
crisp finish that sets it apart from other pale beers out there.
It has won numerous awards
including a Silver Medal at the 1997 World Beer Championships, Bronze
Medals at both the Great American Beer Festival and The World Beer
Championships in 1996, and a Wine Journal Silver Medal in 1996.

Red
Feather Ale - Palm Springs Brewing Company
|
|
In 1994 the Palm Springs Brewing
Co. was created as a brewpub in downtown Palm Springs to cater to
local residents and the huge tourist industry of the area. Two years
later, the demand for their beer was so great that they built an
11,000 sf brewery complete with twelve 50bbl fermentation tanks.
The brewmaster is a really
nice guy, a master around the brew kettle and goes by the name of
Graydon Brown. He started homebrewing in 1986, graduated from the
Siebel Institute for Brewing Studies in 1993 and is also an accomplished
electrical engineer. His brewing experience includes Head Brewery
at Ybor City Brewery in Florida, several years overseas setting
up and running the "Brewhouse" in Bangkok, Thailand and another
brewery in Japan. He has been brewing at Palm Springs for about
a year now and is also the brewer at the London Arms Pub in Lake
Havasu.
He tells me that his favorite
beer is the Octoberfest Beer that will be released again this September.
If they bottle it, we will definitely feature it in October!
In the meanwhile, Red Feather
Ale is a very good red-colored beer with a slightly sweet flavor
and no sharp bitter tones. The famous Palm Springs well water which
they use to brew their beer adds to Red Feather Ale's excellent
balance and full body. You try it & tell us what you
think!

Backdraft
Brown Ale - Hook & Ladder Brewing Company
|
|
Just a dream in 1998, the Hook
& Ladder Brewing Company served its first beer in December of 1999!
A former volunteer firefighter
in Maryland, Rich Fleischer, the owner and master brewer, moved
out to California 7 years ago and was amazed at the thriving microbrew
industry he found. Soon after tasting his first California microbrew,
he started homebrewing his own beer, one thing led to another and
the rest is history... With firefighting in his blood, Rich wanted
to pay tribute to all the men and women who risk their lives daily,
so when he started up his own brewery, he decided to follow a fireman's
theme and The Hook & Ladder Brewing Company was born!
All of Hook & Ladder's brews
follow the theme, with Backdraft Brown being the first release and
Grassfire Wheat soon to follow. Because Rich really liked the fast
fermentation process of brown ales - it got the beer into his belly
faster - this style quickly became his favorite, and he perfected
an outstanding recipe for the beer he calls Backdraft Brown!
Backdraft Brown is a
hand-crafted, savory, medium-bodied, dark brown ale sure to extinguish
your fiery thirst! It is brewed with 2-row malted barley, caramel
and black patent specialty malts, and cascade hops, making it a
smooth, easy drinking beer with a slight roasty flavor.
