"Drinking beer promotes freedom of speech"

A Moment of Silence Please...

This month we have the unfortunate duty of being the bearer of some horribly bad news. Brace yourself ~ A few of our favorite bottled beers will no longer be available to anyone, anywhere, ever again...

Palm Springs Brewing Co. is now Palm Springs Bottling Co. It seems that they have acquired some very lucrative soda contracts and are now only making gourmet sodas. Say good-bye to Red Feather Ale and Desert Mist.

SLO Brewing Co. is discontinuing bottling of their Cole Porter and Old Highland ales. These darker beers were not moving as fast as their lighter beers and succumbed to the pressures of the mass (light beer) drinkers everywhere. These wonderful dark gems will be replaced with a wheat beer. Bummer.

Yes, we do feel your pain, but we can do this together. We can handle this crisis. We can accept this unfortunate turn of events and go on with our lives in peace.

The good news is, there is a small, but fresh supply of the last batches of these beers ever to be bottled and they are available ONLY at Beer On The Wall!

All of these beers are definitely superb brews and we will surely miss them. You would be doing yourself a favor by making sure you get one last taste of them before they're all gone!

Call 1-888-840-BEER (2337) or Go to our website to get your last taste of these great beers.

After that horrible news, here's a little something to cheer you back up!

I always wondered how they get those hamburgers so damn thin!

Quote of the Month - By Terry Reichert

People who drink 'Light Beer' don't like the taste of beer; they just like to pee a lot.

Have a Drinking Problem?

Here are a few tips to help you lick the habit:

  1. Lobby your elected representatives to pass a $6,413 tax on every six-pack of beer.
  2. Join a stop-smoking support group. Be sure it's one that meets on a different night than your other six support groups.
  3. Teach yourself a valuable lesson by slowly dying of liver disease.
  4. Cover yourself in egg whites. No one knows why this works.

November's Featured Brews
Bunch of the Month Club

Pilsner - Sudwerk Hubsch Privatbrauerei

The Sudwerk Hubsch Brewing Company has two locations in the Sacramento area; one in Davis and the other next to the Sacramento State Fair Grounds. Both locations have great brewpubs & restaurants which we will tell you about in upcoming newsletters as we feature some of their other tasty brews.

Having been around for over 10 years now, their philosophy on brewing appears to work well - Make great Bavarian style beers just like those in Germany and don't do any skimping along the way. They strictly adhere to the Reinheitsgebot German Purity Law of 1516 which states that only water, hops, malt and yeast may be used in the brewing process, and that all brewing must be done wearing lederhosen & a funny hat.

All their beers are Lagers, which is almost unheard of for an American microbrewery, but very common in Europe and around the globe.

Pilsner - A very good example of what a true German pilsner may taste like. It is hauntingly similar to one of my favorite German beers 'Bischoff Pils.' A crisp and clean mouth feel with a fragrant hop aroma and exactly carbonated. This award winning beer compliments fish or pasta nicely.

Tocaloma Amber Ale - Lagunitas Brewing Company

These guys have been around desde 1993 and have consistently been making some really good beers since the beginning of their existence. Located in wonderful Petaluma, California, this area is known for its abundant wineries and a few really good breweries - this being one of them.

Lagunitas (LAH-GOO-KNEE-TUSS)Brewing Company bottles 5 beers: Dogtown Pale Ale, Tocaloma Amber Ale (which happens to be a kick ass amber ale), Bugtown Stout, Pils Czech Style Pilsner and an IPA (India Pale Ale). Most of their beers are available at select locations in the northern California only. Beer On The Wall will soon carry the whole friggin' line of these beers so keep an eye out for this exciting event!

Not only will we carry the full line of beers, but we will soon be featuring them so you can get a taste before you commit to actually buying them for yourself!

Tocaloma Amber Ale "Wow, that's a good beer." is what came out of my mouth after the first taste. Many, many, many tastes later. same outcome. Great beer! It's a fantastic mix of hoppiness and maltiness that, for some reason tastes a little different to everyone. I recently had an exciting discovery to share - Lagunitas Amber Ale goes absolutely hand in hand with Cheetos!

Cole Porter - SLO Brewing Company

This is the last opportunity you may ever have to sample this beer! So, if you have been fortunate enough to have tried it before, enjoy it one last time. If you have never had the pleasure, close your eyes and savor the one and only.

We are sad to announce that SLO Brewing Company will no longer be bottling this outstanding porter. They are also discontinuing bottling of their Old Highland Ale, which we featured as one of our March beers. We can't tell you how bummed we are that these two beers are not going to be available any more.

While talking with the Jim Crooks, the breweries microbiologist, we were told that these outstanding beers will still be available at their brewpub in San Luis Obispo. According to Jim, there is a bunch heavy duty mourning going on at the brewery due to their recent loss.

Check out our March, July and August 2000 newsletters for more information about the SLO Brewing Company.

Cole Porter - Dark, tall, and beautiful. Candy in a bottle. Dangerously addicting. Chewy malt inside surrounded by chocolaty espresso outside, and sprinkled with a generous handful of fresh hops to give this beer the goodness we all learned to love and long for. Vaya con Dios Amigo...

WARNING - Consumption of alcohol may cause you to dance like an ass...
